Pacemaker Challenge

The Foundation is looking for community members to join the 2009 Pacemaker Challenge! The Pacemaker Challenge was created to engage more community members with the hospital and help raise money for the “Heart of Your Community” $4.6 million capital campaign. When you sign up to be a Pacemaker, you are joining our efforts to raise awareness about heart disease in Hamilton County and help raise funds to purchase a new multi-slice CT scanner and to upgrade one of our Cath labs.

A Pacemaker takes on the challenge of educating 10 friends about heart disease and asking each friend to become a sponsor by donating $10 a month for 10 months ($100 total) to Riverview to purchase new heart-saving technology. Each Pacemaker will raise a total of $1,000. It might be tough for most people to write out a check for $1,000. But it’s a whole lot easier to donate $10 a month for 10 months!

How do you achieve the Challenge?
You can call, email or visit with your friends. Have a football party, celebrate a holiday, play cards or a board game, have a chili or taco night, or organize a healthy walk through the neighborhood and invite over all of your friends. Tell your friends why you think fighting heart disease is important and how we can work together to fight it. Explain how you’ve become a Pacemaker and that you’re committed to finding 10 sponsors that will give $10/month for 10 months. To celebrate raising $1,000, everyone that sponsors you will be invited to a VIP tour at the hospital.

Most people don’t think about it, but it’s a good idea to become familiar with your local hospital when there is NOT a problem. That way you know where to park, you’re familiar with the entrances and where to go inside.  And you’ll learn about the awesome doctors and nurses and the advanced technology we’re using every day here at Riverview.

Lots of people giving a little = BIG bucks and BIG help!
If we can get 100 Pacemakers signed up, we could raise $100,000! This is a win-win for everybody involved.  The Pacemaker will learn about heart disease and generate $1,000 for a charitable cause, sponsors will learn about heart disease, their local county hospital and make a donation, and Riverview will have the funding to purchase new technology that will save and change the lives of our family, friends and neighbors throughout Hamilton County. WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!!!

Pacemakers will receive:
  • Free VIP tour of the hospital for you, your family and all of your sponsors
  • Beautiful box of stationary sponsored by Hamilton County artists
  • Invitation to the VIP Health Fair on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Riverview Hospital
  • Recognition on the Riverview Hospital Foundation Website
